Award Winners!

The CKUW Awards were announced on Thursday April 30 and At the Monarch’s Convenience was the recipient of two, count em two awards!

Our first award was for Community Engagement. This juried prize was won despite the tough competition of our co-nominees, Inner City Voices and Black Mask being just two examples.

Michael Welch won the award for Rookie of the Year!

Congratulations to everyone who has worked so hard for the last year on At the Monarch’s Convenience!

Oh the Delay’s

Well with the end of the school year and winter we find ourselves a little bit behind in posting news and the new episodes.

If you’ve been tuning in you may have wondered what last week was all about. Let’s call it a little glimpse into the making of At The Monarch’s Convenience, a sort of behind the scenes episode.

This week we are airing episode 39, this is our penultimate episode. That’s right, next week will be the end of At the Monarch’s Convenience.

We have been broadcasting for a full year now and in that year we have managed to write, produce and air 40 half hour episodes. Quite an accomplishment for a mostly volunteer effort and one that we are all very proud of.

We hope that you have enjoyed the show as much as we have and will tune in next week and listen to our good-bye.

Having secured financial backing for their stem cell research plans, Ridley and and Cassia go on talk radio to discuss their plans. Rick thanks Carl for his quick thinking in taking care of Cassia and Jakob’s baby by leaving him in charge of the store while he goes to speak with Gloria about adopting Bogus. Donny and Ronnie advise Aaron on the best way to impress Katie, while Bogus tries to set her up with Ridley.

A Brand New Character

We are pleased to introduce Darlene Darling, the creation of Sarah Arenson who also voices her. Darlene is a talk radio host with a biblical agenda, a deeply spiritual person who is moved to political action by her commtiment to God. Darlene is a deeply compassionate person who believes in the inherent diginity of all life.
